Managing Authority (MA) of Operational Programme Environment 2007 - 2013 is Directorate General Operational Programme Environment within the Ministry of Environment and Water. The MA shall be responsible for the overall programme implementation in compliance with the EU principle of sound financial management.

The MA shall perform functions and tasks related to elaboration and approval by the EC of the programme documents on absorption of funds by the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund in the frameworks of OPE. The MA shall organize project selection procedures, shall ensure that operations are selected for funding in accordance with the criteria applicable to the OP, shall announce the final results from the selection procedure, and shall coordinate the contract for granting financial assistance with the beneficiaries.

In its capacity of MA of OPE, Directorate General Operational Programme Environment shall be responsible for OPE publicity in compliance with the requirements of Regulation 1828/2006 laying down detailed rules on implementation of Regulation 1083/2006.
